How We Work
You know the community. We know how to turn it into a game.
We get why specificity matters.
The details that seem too small or strange for a mass audience are usually the exact details that make your people care.
We combine human creative direction with AI-enabled production.
That means a small team can move faster, explore more ideas, and put more ambition on screen without pretending every niche game needs blockbuster economics.
We build with you, not around you.
Your community stays close to the process through concepts, prototypes, and playable builds—so the finished game feels right when your people encounter it.
The Studio
Founded by Jacob Sager.
- Recovering English Major
- Systems Designer
- AI Implementor
Every Brand New Colors game runs through that combination: close reading to find what a community’s stories are really about, systems design to make those stories playable, and AI in production to make the whole thing possible at niche scale.
The Plan
From inside joke to playable world.
Tell Us About Your People
Share the community, the stories they tell, and the idea you can’t stop thinking about.
Build the Game Together
We turn the strongest ideas into concepts and playable prototypes, then refine them with your feedback.
Give Your Community Something That’s Theirs
Launch a finished game your people immediately recognize, understand, and want to share.
Why We Do This
Games that mean a lot to someone.
Most games are designed to reach the biggest audience possible.
We’re interested in the opposite.
Brand New Colors creates games for specific communities: fandoms, congregations, professions, hometowns, scenes, organizations, and groups of people who share a language and history outsiders might never fully understand.
Because that specificity is the point.
A great niche game doesn’t need to explain every reference to everyone.
It can know the joke. Remember the story. Recognize the place. Use the phrase your people have been saying for fifteen years.
Until recently, building that kind of game was difficult to justify. Traditional production economics pushed studios toward bigger markets and broader ideas.
AI-enabled production changes what a small creative team can make.
It lets us carry more of the production weight while keeping human judgment where it matters most: understanding the community, finding the story, designing the experience, and deciding what belongs in the game.
The result is something we think there should be much more of:
Games that aren’t trying to be for everyone.
Games that mean a lot to someone.
