LAST DRAFT · A BROWSER GAME

Somebody has to
finish the chapter.

It’s 3 a.m. The writer has passed out on his typewriter. His cigarette is still burning.

You are a house fly.

Last Draft — You are the fly. Somebody has to finish the chapter.

A VERY SMALL GHOSTWRITER

Every letter takes a landing.

Fly to a key and stomp it down. The letter strikes the page. When the bell rings, return the carriage and keep going. The manuscript needs help, and you have six legs.

The desk is full of distractions. Land on the writer’s nose and risk a swat. Get too close to the cigarette and you’ll get singed. A visit to the rye makes your flight—and your spelling—less reliable.

Your page saves in this browser. There’s no undo on a typewriter.

HOW TO PLAY

Start buzzing.

  • Tap or click a typewriter key, or type on your keyboard.
  • Press Enter or land on the return lever when you reach the margin.
  • Drag to look around; pinch or scroll to zoom. “Read the page” brings the manuscript into view.
  • Use “Switch” to explore four creatures, three typewriters, different rooms and camera views.

Try a moth drawn to the lamp, or a heavy bumblebee at the keys. Stay long enough in the tenement and the dawn begins to creep in.
